19+ years designing enterprise data architectures — from Teradata warehouses to modern lakehouses on Snowflake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric. I build ETL, data models, KPI dashboards, and the governance that keeps them trustworthy.
For nearly two decades I've designed, built, and shipped data systems that organizations actually rely on — from massive Teradata warehouses to modern lakehouses on Snowflake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric. I'm equally comfortable in the SQL of a stored procedure and the YAML of a Dagster pipeline.
My work sits at the intersection of three disciplines: data engineering (pipelines, models, governance), business intelligence (KPIs, dashboards, analytics tools), and technical product leadership (turning business needs into deliverables). I care a lot about data quality, performance, and the people using the dashboards.
Lately, that means bringing AI into the data stack — vector retrieval, semantic layers, agent-ready lakehouses — while keeping the foundations (governance, lineage, trust) intact.
"Asif has a strong command over SQL, NoSQL, and modern data technologies, along with a strategic understanding of Business Intelligence and Big Data Analytics."
Each layer is something I've shipped in production — across ETL, modeling, orchestration, and BI.
Operational systems, APIs, files, event streams.
ELT/ETL pipelines with quality, lineage, and orchestration.
Lakehouse / warehouse with dimensional, data vault, and medallion designs.
Dashboards, semantic models, KPI governance, AI-ready retrieval.
Tools I've designed production systems around — not just opened a tutorial on.
Designing and managing scalable cloud data architectures — cloud storage, data processing, and analytics/visualization. Developing ETL pipelines, designing data lake / warehouse models, real-time and batch processing, and crafting KPI dashboards with enterprise-grade governance and security.
Evaluated data-collection systems for Saudi ministries, translated business needs into technical specs, designed data pipelines and warehouses in SAP DataSphere, and built KPI dashboards in SAP Analytics Cloud.
Executed a comprehensive BI/analytics strategy. Defined KPIs, designed data infrastructure, drove adoption of advanced analytics, and led Technical Product Management of a self-service dynamic reporting tool — US-listed healthcare-technology company with 17-country operations.
Led database design and optimization across client engagements; performed ETL using SSIS for data cleaning and integration. Operational and transformation work for enterprise clients across four countries.
Vendor coordination for banking software; managed software development; documented and built process flows for data movement and integration across the bank's infrastructure.
Research paper on version management, change impact analysis, and ripple-impact identification in software configuration.
